Immigration

The liberal view on immigration is that it should be easier for immigrants to get a visa, so that they can immigrate legally. The conservatives believe that immigration rates should be lowered by making it harder to get a visa. The conservatives feel that immigration is a bad thing because the immigrants take the jobs of American citizens.

I believe in the liberal side of the argument because I think tat immigration is a good thing. Yeah, they do take our jobs, but many immigrants come to America looking for a better life, and I feel that they should be allowed to work for that.

Prayer in School

When it comes to prayer in school, he liberals and conservatives do not agree. The conservatives believe that prayer should be allowed in school because they don't feel that it is a big deal, and if you don't want to pray, then you don't have to. The liberals on the other hand feel that prayer in school should not be allowed, because it pressures kids to pray, even if they don't want to.

I believe that prayer in school is inappropriate and should not be allowed. It puts non religious kids in a position where they might not want to pray, but everyone else is. Children should not be pressured to do something that they don't want to do, they should be allowed to decide on their own religion. Prayer in school allows religion to be forced upon kids, and should not be allowed.

It's a Shame

I feel that the statment "It's a shame that the people who are listening to you the most are only interested in you because they want you and your peers to buy their product" is not true only because I wouldn't say that corporations are the people who listen to me the most. I believe that if I sent a letter to the corp. requesting that they change something, they wouldn't change a thing. But it is a shame that they try to identify with me, just so i'll buy their product.

Sympathy for the Devil

My favorite song by the Rolling Stones is Sympathy for the Devil. I love this song so much because of how well written it is. The song is about the devil, and all of the tragedies he has caused over the years. What stands out about these lyrics to me is how origional they are. I like how it is written from the point of view of the Devil, and that is what makes this song unlike any other song.

Rolling Stones

The group that I am studying for my music project is the Rolling Stones. The Rolling Stones have been around since the 60's and have had a huge influence on almost every rock band around today. Since they are such an old band, I wouldn't say that they represent my generation. Music from my generation is a buisness, while the rolling stones made music that they liked, it didn't matter if everyone else listened to it or not. The Rolling stones made songs about drugs and sex and the devil, in a cleaner time and that generation has come and gone.

Gay Rights

The topic of discussion yesterday was gay rights. The liberals and conservatives feel very differently about this subject. The more religious believe that homosexuals should not have the right to marriage because of their infliction on the "normal" family, and because homosexuality is a sin. The liberals on the other hand, believe that gays should have the right to marry because there's nothing wrong with being gay, and it doesn't effect anybody but the people who are getting married.

I personally feel that homosexuals should be allowed to marry, because to me, being gay is not a big deal. In my opinion, homosexuals are no different than heterosexuals. If a man wants to marry a man, or a woman wants to marry a woman, no one should stop them. I believe it is there choice, and no one else's.

Abortion

Abortion is a topic that attracts huge debates between liberals and conservatives. While the liberals believe that a woman should have the right to terminate her pregnancy, conservatives feel that that would be murder, and illegal. I believe that a woman should have the right to choose, because an accidental pregnancy has the potential to "ruin the mother's life." I don't think that abortions are the same as murder, because in my opinion, a human fetus at such a young age is not actually alive.
